How Do I Create Tasks?

To create a task, perform the following steps:

  1. Click on the New Task icon from the Calendar toolbar.

    The Create Task window is displayed. You can set minimal attributes required for your task here. For more information on quickly creating tasks, see How Do I Quickly Create Tasks?

  2. Click on the Enter more details link.

    A New Task tab is created.

  3. Enter the title for the task in the Task Title text area.

  4. Select the calendar in which you want to schedule this task from the Calendar drop-down list.

  5. Select the priority you want to assign to this task from the Priority drop-down list.

    The following options are available:

    • Normal: This option is set by default.

    • High: Select this option if the task is of high priority.

    • Low: Select this option is the task is of low priority.

  6. You can record progress you have made towards completion of this task by selecting the percentage completed in the Progress drop-down list.

  7. You can set a deadline for this task from the Due drop-down list.

    The following options are available:

    • Date/Time: Select the date and time if you have a due date and time for the task to be completed. If this option is selected, provide the date and time from the text boxes adjacent to this attribute.

    • Date: Select this option to set only the due date.

    • None: Select this option if you do not have any set deadline to complete this task.

  8. Type the location for this task in the Location field.

  9. Type any notes you may want to have for this task in the Notes field.

  10. You can specify the privacy attribute for your tasks from the Task isdrop down list.

    The following options are available:

    • Public: The task is public and is visible to all users who subscribe to your calendar.

    • Private: The task is private and is visible only to you.

    • Date and Time: Only the date and time attributes of the task are visible.

  11. To include any attachments for this task, click on the Attach icon from the menu bar.

  12. Click on the Recurrence to set recurring tasks.

    The recurrence pop up window appears.

    To set recurring tasks, perform the following steps:

    1. Select the frequency with which you want this task to repeat.

      The following options are available:

      • Daily: By default this option is selected.

      • Weekly

      • Monthly

      • Yearly

    2. Select an ending criteria from the Ending drop-down list.

      Using this option, specify when the task ends.

      The following options are available:

      • never: Indicates that there is no end date for this task.

      • by: Indicates that the task ends by a particular date. If this option is selected, you must specify a date by which the task ends from the text field adjacent to the Ending date. You can select a date from the miniature calendar that pops up when you click in the text field. By default the current date is selected.

      • after: Indicates that the task ends after x number of times it is repeated.

  13. You can set a Reminder for your task by clicking the Reminders icon and setting a notification.

    The Reminders pop up window appears:

    1. Select the Notify Me check box to enable reminders.

    2. Select the criteria for notification. You can set notifications for either before or after the task is due.

    3. Select the mode of reminders. You can set reminders using email or SMS.

  14. Set the time zone for this task by clicking on the Time Zone icon.

  15. Click Save.
