How Do I Export My Contacts?

Address Book enables you to export contacts to other formats. This feature is useful when you want to import existing contacts from one application to another. You do not have to manually type each contact in your new application.

Perform the following steps to export your contact from Convergence.

  1. Select the address book from which you want to export the contacts.

    A tab appears on the right side of the window showing all the contacts of the address book.

  2. You can export contacts in two ways.

    • Export all contacts in the selected address book.

    • Select a subset of contacts from the address book.

    To export all contacts in the address book, perform the following steps:

    1. Click the Import/Export icon from the address book toolbar from the left pane.

      The following options are displayed:

      • Import

      • Export

    2. Select Export.

    To export selected contacts, perform the following steps:

    1. Select the contacts by clicking on the check box next to the contact or by pressing the Ctrl key (command key for Mac OS users) for nonsequential contacts or use the Shift key for sequential contacts.

    2. Right-click on the selected list.

    3. Select Export from the context menu.

    The Export Contacts from Address Book dialog box appears and the default address book is selected.

  3. Select the format in which you want to export your contacts. The following options are displayed:

    • vCard 3.0

    • vCard 2.1

    • Mozilla/Thunderbird LDIF

    • Microsoft Outlook CSV


    Note - When you export address book entries in the Mozilla or Thunderbird LDIF format, both contact and group information are exported. If you export contacts that are in vCard and Microsoft Outlook file formats, only contacts are exported.


    If you have selected contacts from the address book, the following options are available.

    • Export All: Select this option to export all address book entries.

    • Export Selected: Select this option to export the selected entries.

  4. Click the Export Contacts button to export the contact to the selected format.

    The contacts are exported in the chosen format and an operating system dialog box appears prompting you to store your entries.
